SEO Content

If You Hate to Write It, People Will Hate to Read It

Ever read an article that just drags on and on?  Chances are you didn’t get to the end of it – much less clicked on the link and bought anything.

Are people viewing your SEO content the same way?

You may think you’re an OK writer.  Maybe you can string together some words that make sense.  Maybe you used to get A’s on your term papers back in school.  Maybe you know how to spell and where to put all of the commas and apostrophes.
But if you hate sitting down at the computer and looking at a blank Word document, you will never be a good SEO content writer.

Why?

Good SEO content is designed to do two things:

1.  Answer a reader’s question or solve his problem

2.  Engage the reader so that he trusts you and, ultimately, decides to do business with you

If your SEO content can’t do both of those things, it will never get you the conversions that you want.  That’s because it’s not just WHAT you say; HOW you say it is also very important.  Having all of the facts in the world doesn’t mean much if your SEO content is so boring that no one can get through to the end of it.

Like it or not, the mindset you’re in when you start to write shines through.  You simply cannot “fake it”.  And, more importantly, that mindset is contagious.

It’s similar to what happens when you’re walking down the street and a stranger smiles at you.  More times than not, you smile back, right?  Why?  For that brief moment, the stranger’s happiness is contagious.  Simply seeing someone in a good mood is enough to put you in a good enough mood to smile back.

The same thing happens when people read your SEO content.

If you’re truly interested in what you’re talking about, other people will be, too.  And if you’re just trying to “get through” the article so that you have something new to publish, people will feel the same way.

Remember, you are competing with thousands – or even millions – of other people for your target audience’s attention.  If your SEO content gives off the wrong vibe, your target audience will simply go somewhere else.

The key is passing along the passion to your readers.  Passion is what drives conversions; boredom won’t.
