Your SEO Articles – Are You Doing Everything Right?

Article writing is an art; it takes a combination of work and talent to come up with successful SEO articles.  Your article writing says a lot about you.  It sets the tone for your business, and it gives readers a chance to check out your knowledge.  A great SEO article proves that you really know your stuff; a bad SEO article leaves people thinking you’re a hack.

So, what can you do to make sure you’re publishing the best SEO articles?  Start by asking yourself these 6 questions:

1. Do your SEO articles have a great title?

Your article titles are the first impression you make with readers.  Internet searchers don’t read every article that pops up; instead, they scan for titles that grab their attention.  If your SEO articles don’t have compelling titles, you’re missing out on tons of readers.

Successful article titles let readers know exactly what the article is about.  Great titles incorporate keywords naturally, and they have those keywords as close to the beginning of the title as possible.  Take a look at the title of this article.  Right off the bat, you know you’re going to be reading about SEO articles.

2.  Are your words too fancy?

Sure, you want to look educated, but great SEO articles use words that everyone can understand.  Now is not the time to impress people with all of those fancy words you learned for the SAT’s.  A good SEO article is meant to inform – not make readers feel stupid because they don’t know what that 4-syllable word means.
Your article writing will never bring you good results if you make readers feel dumb; they’ll simply look for another article that doesn’t intimidate them.

3.  Are you getting to the point quickly?
Internet searchers are a lot like 2-year-olds – they want information, and they want it now!  They do not have the patience to sit around and wait for you to make a point.  There are far too many SEO articles out there that start out with “This article is going to tell you about…”  Instead of introducing readers to your topic, just tell ‘em what you need to tell ‘em.

4.  Are you making silly mistakes?

Article writing is different than a term paper.  It’s OK to be conversational, and even witty when the time is right.  However, that doesn’t mean you can throw the rules of grammar and spelling out the window.  Remember, your SEO content sets the tone for your business.  You can’t establish yourself as an expert if your writing is full of mistakes.

5.  Are your SEO articles easy to scan?
It all goes back to the impatient internet searcher.  Readers love SEO articles with bullets, numbered lists, and short paragraphs; it lets them scan for information they want.  If your SEO articles are full of never-ending paragraphs, your readers will never make it to your resource box.

6.  Do your SEO articles stand the test of time?

Article writing is a little bit different than other types of writing.  Once they’re published, SEO articles are out there forever; you never know when someone is going to stumble upon your article.  Your SEO articles need to be written in such a way that they’re just as informative years from now as they are today.
