Google’s Big Algorithm Change – How It’s Changing Your Article Marketing Strategy

Google admits that it makes changes to its algorithms all the time, and, usually, we never hear a thing about it.  However, its latest change is a big one – that will have rippling effects for anyone who wants to make money off of their article marketing strategy.

Google has gone right to the heart of the matter, changing the way its algorithms evaluate and respond to content.  According to Google, the change is “designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites… At the same time, it will provide better rankings for high-quality sites – sites with original content and information such as research, in-depth reports, thoughtful analysis, and so on.”

The change is Big G’s way of saying that low-quality content doesn’t provide any real service to internet searchers, and they’re sick of looking at it.

So, what does this mean for you?

It means you had better get writing.

Yes, WRITING – not spinning, scraping, or swiping.

Here’s why:

Not only are Google’s spiders getting more picky, so are the article directories.
EzineArticles – the world wide web’s largest article directory – saw a 35% drop in traffic a mere 2 days after the algorithm change went into effect.  For a site that used to see nearly 2 million unique visitors a day, that’s a massive drop!

EzineArticles has since responded by making stricter submission guidelines.  The other article directories may certainly follow their lead.

That means it’s time to say goodbye to the $2 content writers, the article spinners, and the article marketing shortcuts.  If you’re not serious about publishing quality SEO articles, you may find it downright impossible to find a site that will publish your content.  Or, if it does happen to get approved, it will be so buried in the search engine rankings that it won’t make a difference.

So, what should you do to avoid getting swept away by this massive algorithm change?

- Focus on quality instead of quantity.  The practice of getting “quick and dirty backlinks” is over.   If you really want your SEO articles to make a difference, you’re going to have to work at them – or pay someone to work on them.  And, you simply can’t get the quality you need for a couple of bucks a pop.  Be prepared to spend a little more on content writers.

- Devote time to actual research.  Quality SEO articles have solid information, not just a rambling of thoughts.

- Remember the little things – like spelling and grammar.  Everything you publish is a reflection on your name and your brand.

- Stop the shortcuts.  Quality SEO articles take time and effort; there is no getting around it.  If you don’t make the most out of a good article marketing strategy, you and your website will never be as profitable as they should be!
